ACRYLIC SCULPTURES MADE OF ACRYLIC PAINT AND MEDIUM
   by Larry Boyer

ABSTRACT ACRYLIC SCULPTURES ARTIST STATEMENT

As poetry serves as landscapes for the mind, so these abstract landscapes serve as poetry for the heart.

The abstract acrylic sculptures are a poetic rendition of landscapes, people, places and history found in Montana and Wyoming with their deep emotive powers.

The directional elements, colors and their combined expressions are used to explain the emotive and complex character in nature that unfold visually as we would engage the actual vistas suggested by the title of the pieces.

ACRYLIC PAINT SCULPTURE CHARACTERISTICS

Acrylic paint sculptures made from acrylic paint and various acrylic mediums can be an important way to develop sculptures in new ways.

Essentially, acrylic paint sculpture is an interesting way to blur the lines between painting and sculpture.  This is because with acrylic paint sculpture, there is the very real aspect of painting a subject with sculptural elements themselves.  It also blurs the lines between paint and clay in that, acrylic paints and acrylic mediums can be manipulated to perform much as clay does and hold similar characteristics without many of clay's limitations and drawbacks.

Another interesting aspect about anacrylic paint sculpture is that because it is made with artist's acrylic materials, very dynamic elements that can be conceived of can often be made and integrated with other sculptural elements to make creations very novel and dynamic.

Acrylic paint sculpture has another important characteristic as well.  Acrylic paint sculpture is far lighter in weight than many materials that are used in sculpture construction - especially clay and steel. This allows sculptures to be placed almost anywhere on account of its relatively light weight.  In fact, as you look at the acrylic sculptures below, you will see that they can be framed much like any painting and hung on a wall or set on furniture that allows for display.

Most of the Acrylic paint sculptures that will be shown below, are of both abstract and realistic subjects.  It is important to note that realistic sculptures are much more difficult in many ways than abstract sculptural subject matter.  Though all of the acrylic paint sculptures shown here are life-size, any scale can be utilized and exploited.  Acrylic sculptures such as the ones shown here, carry a high impact quality that enhance any setting. Again, the acrylic sculptures shown below can be framed and may be wall hung.
